Choose one of the three guests featured on the talk show 101 East. Then apply discourse analysis. State whether you agree or disagree towards the proposition, premises and arguments that you have identified.

The Malaysian New Economic Policy (NEP or DEB) was an ambitious and controversial socio-economic restructuring affirmative action program launched by the Malaysian government in 1971 under the then Prime Minister Tun Abdul Razak. The NEP ended in 1990, and was succeeded by the National Development Policy in 1991. In Al Jazeera 101 East: Malaysian Affirmative Action the guest that I choose is Chow Kon Yeow who is a senior Democratic Action Party (DAP).
Discourse Analysis

Conclusion
The issue about NEP, most people do not agree and says that it unfair to them.

Preposition / Claim
NEP just can make a trouble to them and racism problem

Premise 1
NEP give economic advantage to the rich Bumiputras, such as quotas in ownership of public company stock, and housing being sold exclusively to Bumiputras

Argument 1
Unfair to the poor Bumiputras because of government favouritism.

Premise 2
NEP has many corruption and abuse around the society

Argument 2
Malay people and Bumiputras not have been given enough facilities. They just concerned about people that has a strong influence in politics.

I will say that I disagree what Chow Kon Yeow says about NEP. He is not telling the fact about this issue.  What I have state in preposition, NEP just make can make a trouble to Malay and Bumiputras and racism problem. Several policies of the NEP which give economic advantage to the rich Bumiputras, such as Bumiputra quotas in ownership of public company stock, and housing being sold exclusively to Bumiputras, are viewed as discriminatory.

Furthermore, premise 2, NEP has many corruption and abuse among the politician and society. In 2008, the chief minister of the state of Penang, Lim Guan Eng, made a breakthrough decision whereby he announced that the new state administration will be free from NEP. This statement made a big mistake to DAP. Many Malay people made a protest against that issue.
